4 Bill of Sale Forms for Different Property Types

A vehicle bill of sale is also called Form T-7 in Georgia. This document must be completed for a vehicle’s transfer of ownership. The form must be submitted at the Tax Commissioner’s Tag Office when registering a vehicle with the new owner. It is not necessary to certify the document with a notary or witnesses. The signatures of the seller and the buyer are enough.

A trailer bill of sale must be filled out in Georgia if your trailer was produced in 1985 or before. But even if your trailer was manufactured later, we still recommend filling out the bill of sale. This is required to register a trailer at a County Tag Office. Creation rules are the same as those for a vehicle bill of sale.

A boat bill of sale is used in Georgia to prove an ownership transaction between the seller and the buyer of a boat or a vessel. Also, the new owner will need this document to register the boat under their name with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. The form must contain the vessel’s identifying information and price, seller’s and buyer’s contacts, and signatures of both parties.

A firearm bill of sale is a legal form that is filled out when buying and selling firearms in Georgia. The document proves the transfer of ownership from one person to another. The paper must include details of the owners, the firearm, and transaction terms.

Official Resources and Guides

Below, we will tell you about what resources you can use when creating different types of bills of sale and provide you with some instructions.

Vehicle-related: In Georgia, you are required to register your vehicle within 30 days of purchase or after 30 days of your relocation into the state. You can find your nearest Tax Commissioner’s Tag Office here. The resident has to pay a fine if they do not register their vehicle on time.

Boat-related: In Georgia, all boats over 12 feet in length and with a mechanical engine must be registered with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR). Registration will be valid for three years, and then it will need to be renewed. If you are a private seller, you must provide the bill of sale to the DNR within 15 days.

Gun-related: While Georgia does not have special laws on weapons registration, it is necessary to have an official permit to carry firearms with you.
